During testing and development of the
SSA (Serial Storage Architecture)
standard in the early 1990s, Micropolis offered a version of the wide SCSI 3243 models with a refreshed controller, allowing it to interface with SSA. These drives were performance tested as part of the
Cornell University Project Zeno.
